Description:

Tree. Tree 25 m x 40 cm, outer bark rough, densely fissured, shed in narrow plates, sap red.
Habitat:

Primary forest on terra firme, mostly level terrain, deeply dissected by a few large streams; canopy open, as is much of understory. Guadua sarcocarpa beginning to dominate again in places approx. 12 years after dieback.
