Description:

Vine; caudex short, knotty; stems woody, armed w/ needle-like prickles; peduncles drooping. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
Habitat:

Growing in Yellow Pine forest, on terrace above perennial stream. Assoc w/ Pinus, Umbellularia, Quercus, Cyperus, Rubus.
