Description:

Slender, erect tree; stem 5 in. thick, 15 ft. high, with main branches arising from below the middle; wood dingy yellowish-white, rather soft, odorless and without taste; bark thin, yellowish, flaking in thin scales; main branches ascending, numerously rebranched; the ultimate ones relatively short, subhorizontal, repeatedly branched from the lower side, with ascending leafy tips; petioles reddish, blades gracefully recurved, mostly descending, coriaceous, flat or only shallowly folded upon the velvety dark-green upper side, much paler or even yellowish-green beneath; inflorescence erect, dull red except the orange-red anthers. Habitat:

In reddish soil of a moist wooded bank along the Patos River.
