Description:

Stems erect, ca. 0.5 m tall. Stem cross-section quadrangular. Petioles reddish. Bracts persistent; red; ovate. Calyx red; 5 lobed; dorsal lobe smaller than lateral lobes. Anthers apically poricidal, but then appearing to dehisce longitudinally.
