Location:

Ecuador. Carchi. Tulcán (Canton). Parroquia: Chical. Collection made along path from the village of Chical towards an area known locally as "Crystal." Walked along Río Blanca via the Cordillera Gualchan (ca. 6-8 km SW of Chical). Alt. 1200 - 1800 m. (3937 - 5905 ft.)

Description:

Terrestrial herb, 60 cm tall. Stem quadrangular and winged. Corolla white; campanulate; lobes fimbriate. Fruit a fleshy capsule with bright red ovary walls.
Habitat:

Evergreen montane/premontane wet forest.
