Location:

Ecuador. Carchi. Tulcán (Canton). Parroquia: Chical. Collection made along path from the village of Chical towards an area known locally as "Crystal." Walked along Río Blanca via the Cordillera Gualchan (ca. 6-8 km SW of Chical). Alt. 1200 - 1800 m. (3937 - 5905 ft.)

Description:

Terrestrial herb. Stems succulent; erect, to 80 cm tall. Calyx lobes red. Corolla red; slightly ventricose. Note: C.f., Freiberg 2000 (Gasteranthus atrolimbus & G. acuticarinuatus).
Habitat:

Evergreen montane/premontane wet forest.
