Ecuador. Bolívar. 0-3 kms SW of Las Guardiaas on San Miguel-Balzapampa road. (ca. 30 km S of San Miguel). Alt. 2000 - 2200 m. (6562 - 7218 ft.)

Description:

Tree to 9 m tall. Capsules brown. Young twigs squarish, maroon. Leaves maroon beneath when young. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.

Habitat:

Cloud forest, often disturbed.
