Description:

Dioecious. Procumbent or sub-erect herb. Stem c. 0.8 m long. Pistillate flowers: calyx pink, petals whte to slightly pink, ovary and stigma light green. Staminate flowers: calyx pink, corolla white or slightly pink, anthers yellow. Corolla tube filled with sweet nectar. Cultivated in the Botanical Garden of Munich, bloomed two years afetr sowing. Only one female flower sprouted in one of six individuals in cultivation. Seeds provided by José Lomelia from the Unoversity of Guadalajara, originally collected from a fruting plant on 12 October 2010. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
