Description:

Tree 12 m x 15 cm, trunk and branches spiny, fruits pendent, spindle-shaped, to 8 cm long. USE1: Comestible -- Pulp of fruit sweet, edible. USE2: Medicinal -- immature fruits ingested to expel intenstinal worms. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
Habitat:

Restinga -- forest on high terrace, level terrain, reportedly regenerating from dominant arborescent bamboo die-back 2-3 years ago.
