Colombia. Chocó. Area of Baudó. On right side of Río Baudó, ca. 13.5 km. upstream of estuary, at trail of section 32 immediately at right bank of Quebeada Carpio. Alt. 12 m. (39 ft.)

Description:

Tree, ca. 18 m. high; stem ca. 14 m. high; leaves glossy-green on upper, greyish-green on lower surface; flowers small, white; fruits greenish-brown with creamy-yellow mesocarpium. Local name: carbonero. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Relatively low vegetation with e.g. Brosmium and Cecropia. On relatively dry loamy ground above the quebrada.
