Costa Rica. Guanacaste. Cantón de Tilarán. 4-5 km. northwest of Monteverde, at and just below Continental Divide, 2-4 km. west of Santa Elena between road to Cañitas and upper road to Las Nubes. Alt. 1400 - 1500 m. (4593 - 4921 ft.)

Description:

Tree, 25 m. Newly flushed leaves almost mature over most of crown. Flowers with pale tepals, yellow orange pollen flaps, odor like Crescentia flowers. Mature fruit black with yellow orange cupule. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.

Habitat:

Pasture.

Feature Notes:

This NY sheet has the cupules but no seeds in them, Nov 1998.
