Brazil. São Paulo. Itapecerica da Serra Mun. Along the Sao Paulo-Regisrto highway (BR-2), ca. 40 km SW of turnoff to village of Sao Lourenço da Serra. Alt. 750 m. (2461 ft.)

Description:

Tree 6 m. tall, base of trunk 30 cm diam., dividing 6 dm up into several erect trunks up to 15 cm diam. Open flowers 5.5 cm diam. Petals open white with light violet tips, gradually turn violet-pink, then violet-rose. Filaments & styles light greenish-white (the filaments with purple hairs halfway up) in newly open flowers, then gradually turn light violet. Anthers greenish-white. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

8 m. tall secondary forest on mountain side.
