Collection Notes: From NY 278292: Annotation by D. C. Wasshausen, 1985: I suspect that Ness incorrectly attirbuted this collection to Langsdorf in Mart. Fl. Bras. 9: 92. Later that same year, in DC. Prodr. 11: 310. he cites the collection without a collector as h. acad. petrop., n. 796. Furhtermore, the specimnes that I have examined from Nee's herbarium, n. 796, in sylvis primaevis Macahé Jun2 1832, is identical to the New York collection made by Riedel & Luschnath. Since this is a rare species, no additional collections have been made to date, I feel certain that this collection is a syntype of S. lobeliaeformis Nees.
