Nicaragua. Estelí. Km 163 on Hwy 1, ca. 11.2 km N of entrance to Estelí. Alt. 920 m. (3018 ft.)

Description:

Erect, clumped, spikes brown. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.

Habitat:

Level rocky plain on old basalt, thorn scrub with cacti and Agave conspicuous.

Other:

Specimen Notes: Stevens 9127 The sheet, achenes, spike and glumes of this specimen agree with Eleocharis contracta Maury. Although E. contracta and E. nodulosa are related species, Stevens 9127, is in the extreme of variation near E. contracta, which up to now is known from Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. R. Guaglianone, 1987.
