Location:

Brazil. Maranhão. Loreto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region between the Rios Balsas and Parnaíba. About 40 km S of Lorêto. Near place called "Picada," about 450 m S of the creek, "Riacho da Picada.". Alt. 250 - 300 m. (820 - 984 ft.)

Description:

Corolla reddish-purple. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

At head of brook ravine (now dry) cut into gentle slope of side of low plateau. In shade of arboreal vegetation transitional between forest & "chapada". Fine sandy dark brown soil with a few pebbles. [See label for further habitat description.].
