Location:

Brazil. Minas Gerais. Brumadinho Mun. ca. 16 km from Belo Horizonte along BR-040, Condominio Retiro das Pedras, slopes behind community, below Rua Quares Meira Roxa, drainage of the Rio Mutuca, periphery of Serra da Moeda. Alt. 1200 - 1300 m. (3937 - 4265 ft.)

Description:

Culms erect, 1-1.5 cm in diameter, to 2-3 m tall. [See label for further plant description.]. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.
Habitat:

Campo rupestre, bamboo in large colonies along streams on slopes and the larger stream in the valley. Apparently burned fairly frequently; perhaps bamboo formely existed in a gallery forest.
