Description:

terrestrial. Little-branched coarse herb to 60 cm, inflorescence bracts red, corolla red except throat orange. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

"Baixo" -- low terraces possibly flooded occasionally by overflowing streams, with semi-closed canopy including Hura, Moraceae, trunked palms, Sterculia, Eschweilera; understory with Marantaceae and Araceae); and surrounding slopes (with Averrhoidium, Couroupita, Moraceae, Annonaceae, Pouteria).
