Ecuador. Esmeraldas. Quinindé (Canton). Reserva Ecológica Mache-Chindul, 35 km W of Quinindé. The Bilsa Biological Station. Cordillera Mache-Chindul. Sendero Rojo to "Arbol de Limón" to La T to Montaña de los Guerrilleros and then Sendero Amarillo. Alt. 400 - 600 m. (1312 - 1968 ft.)

Description:

Terrestrial herb, 20-40 cm tall. Stems succulent. Abaxial leaf surface dark red. Leaves rugose. Fruit a capsule; dehiscing dorsally.
Habitat:

Premontane wet forest.
