Description:

Shrub to 2 m tall. Leaves somehwat leathery, very pale below, to 6.5 x 2.5 cm. Flowers bright pink to rose, Azalea-like; petals with deeper veins, anthers yellow, filaments rose, styles white.
Habitat:

Type locality of Espeletia neriifolia.
Feature Notes:

Locally called "Rosa del Avila".
