Genus Description - Erect terrestrials or epiphytes with ovoid or ellipsoid, compressed, often angulate pseudobulbs subtended at base by usually fibrous, foliaceous bracts. Roots fibrous, pubescent or lanuginose. Leaves 1-3 per pseudobulb, broad, plicate, deciduous. Inflorescences 1 to many, erect, basal solitary flowers on scapes. Flowers medium-sized to large, showy; sepals subequal, free, spreading; petals subequal to or shorter than dorsal sepal; lip 3-lobed, continuous with column foot, the lateral lobes erect, the midlobe spreading or reflexed, the callus thickened; column semiterete, arcuate; pollinia 4, in 2 pairs, waxy.
