Ovules obliquely oriented upward
-
Title
Ovules obliquely oriented upward
-
Definition
Ovules projecting upward at less than right angles from the vertical axis of the ovary.
-
Notes
Ovule orientation depends on the placement of the ovules on the placenta, i.e., ovules at the apex are often obliquely oriented upward, those in the middle are often horizontally oriented, and those at the base are often obliquely oriented downward. In general, the ovules attached to the middle of the placenta are used to determine ovule orientation.
