Ovules horizontally oriented
-
Title
Ovules horizontally oriented
-
Definition
Ovules projecting outward at right angles from the vertical axis of the ovary.
-
Notes
Ovule orientation depends on the placement of the ovules on the placenta, i.e., ovules at the apex often are obliquely oriented upward, those in the middle are horizontally oriented, and those at the base are often oriented obliquely downward. In general, the ovules attached to the middle of the placenta are used to determine ovule orientation.
