Notes
Androphore has been used as a synonym for the androecium of zygomorphic-flowered Lecythidaceae. However, as Monteiro-Scanavacca (1975) pointed out the androecium of Lecythidaceae is entirely derived from staminal tissue; thus, androphore is not an appropriate term for the androecium of Lecythidaceae. We call the male part of the flower of neotropical Lecythidaceae the androecium. There are two types of androecia in neotropical Lecythidaceae: actinomorphic and zygmorphic.
