Description:

Tree 20 m x 35 cm. Bark gray, peeling in thick, irregular plates, the fissures oriented laterally and vertically. Most recent stems reddish-brown with white, small, widely scattered lenticels. Male catkins ca. 6 cm long, the stamens subtended by a scale, the scale purple for the upper half and green at the base, the line between the two colors strongly demarcated. Immature frits with incipient wings. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

In tree in barkyard and others in small forest plot between home and lakel. Common.
