Damon Little, The New York Botanical Garden

The gymnosperms are vascular, seed-bearing plants best known for the pines and spruces of temperate regions. There are native species of gymnosperms in the Caribbean, but all species known from Saba are cultivated. The major difference between gymnosperms and flowering plants is that the seeds are not enclosed in an ovary in the former whereas they are in the latter.
