  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to 30 km along Rio Apiaú from the mouth of the river (confluence of Rio Apiaú and Rio Mucajaí) toward the source in Mun. Mucajaí, Roraima. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the mouth of Rio Apiaú (confluence of Rio Apiaú and Rio Mucajaí). Beginning at the approximate geographic center of the mouth of the river, used the Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 30 km (29.9989 km) along the river toward the source; used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset, on the adjacent shore (collection assumed to be terrestrial). Used the Distance Measurement Tool again to find the linear extent of the starting location, the mouth of Rio Apiaú, by measuring from the geographic center of the mouth to the farthest extent of the confluence of Rio Apiaú and Rio Mucajaí. Input coordinates, linear extent (0.204893 km), measurement error (.0005 km), and distance precision (10 km) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius to find the uncertainty radius.
