  Árbol siempre verde de copa amplia redondeada que puede alcanzar 30 pies de altura y 8 pulgadas de diámetro en el tronco. Se caracteriza por ramitas nuevas rojizas, flores pequeñas blancuzcas dispuestas en racimos y frutos verdes o azul oscuro sobre cúpulas rojas. La madera de este árbol se utiliza para postes. Podría tener uso en la reforestación puertorriqueña. Esta especie crece en el norte y la zona caliza húmeda de la Isla y Vieques. Está distribuido en las Antillas Mayores y en algunas islas de las Antillas Menores. Evergreen tree of ample round canopy that can reach to thirty feet of height and eight inches of diameter in the trunk. It is characterized because the new small branches are reddish; the flowers are small whitish arranged in racemes; and the fruits green or dark blue in a red cupola. The wood of this tree is used for posts. It could be used in Puerto Rican reforestation. This species grows in the North, in the humid calcareous zone of the Island and in Vieques. It is distributed in the Greater Antilles and in some islands of the Lesser Antilles.
