  Abaxial leaf blade surface of Ostrya virginiana based on Mori & Gracie 27528 from the Adirondacks, Warren County, New York. The venation is craspedodromous, there are axillary tufts of trichomes in the junction of the midrib and secondary veins, and the midrib is pubescent.
