  Cross-section of a stipe of Dennstaedtia punctilobula based on S. A. Mori & M. Rothman 28064 from the Westchester Wilderness Walk/Zofnass Family Preserve, Westchester Co., New York. The single vascular bundle is elongate and in the shape of a smile. The adaxial surface of the section is on the upper left of the stipe, Note that the stipe is not funiculate toward the base but is funiculate further up the stiple.
