Description
Species Description - Perennial; stems puberulent or glandular above, to 6 dm; lvs sessile and somewhat clasping, lanceolate to ovate, 1–2.5 cm, with several small sharp teeth, 3–5-nerved; pedicels 1–1.5 cm; bractlets usually present and resembling the sep; sep 4–7 mm; cor 8–13 mm, white or tinged with purple, marked with purple lines internally; fr 2 mm, much shorter than the sep; 2n=14. June–Aug. Moist or wet places; Del. to S.C., n. Ga., and e. Tenn., and irregularly to s. O., w. Va., Ky., Mo., and n. Fla. Summer and fall. (G. viscosa Schwein., not Hornem.)
