Description
Species Description - Much like no. 1 [Blephilia ciliata (L.) Benth.]; stems hirsute, especially above, with spreading hairs commonly 1-2 mm; main lvs lance-ovate to broadly ovate, 4-8 cm, ± serrate, obtuse to rounded or subcordate at base, on petioles 1-2 cm; verticils well separated or the upper pair contiguous, the bracts narrower and shorter than in no. 1 and soon reflexed; lower cal-lobes 1 mm or less, not reaching the upper sinuses. Moist, shaded places; Que. to Minn., s. to N.C., Ala., and Ark. May-Aug.
