    Genus Description - Fls precociously sexual, the style exserted and the anthers dehiscent well before the cor is mature, the style remaining exsert; cor hairy outside, nearly tubular, with rather narrow, erect, pointed lobes and thickened, basally inflexed sinuses; fornices wanting; anthers barely or only partly included; nutlets turgid, smooth or merely pitted, broadly attached at the base to the flattish or depressed gynobase, commonly only 1 or 2 maturing; coarse, often rough-hairy perennials with largely or wholly cauline lvs, the fls white to yellow, commonly with somewhat greenish lobes, borne in leafy-bracteate helicoid cymes. 5, N.
