Description
Species Description - Erect, freely branched annual 1–4 dm, white-strigose throughout; lvs linear, 1.5–3 cm × 1–3 mm; fls solitary at the end of numerous short branches; cal-lobes foliaceous, strigose, very unequal, the longest nearly equaling the cor; fr depressed- globose, 2 mm long, 3 mm thick, splitting into 4 1-seeded nutlets, finely hairy outside. Dry soil, upland woods, prairies and barrens; w. Io. and Kans. to Ala. and Tex. June–Aug. (Lithococca t.)
