    Species Description - Deciduous, glabrous twiner to 10 m; lvs petiolate, lance-ovate to oblong, 5–10 cm; fls brown-purple, 2–2.5 cm wide, the narrowly oblong cor-lobes densely villous on the upper side especially toward the margins and base, and with a central, densely and shortly papillate- hairy strip toward the base; principal lobes of the corona slender, almost thread-like, 4–8 mm; anthers villous on the back; frs 10–15 cm; 2n=24. Native of s. Eur., rarely escaped from cult. in our range.
