Description
Species Description - Leafy twigs with rather dense very short hairs, intermixed with sparse, longer, usually uncinate hairs, below the scars of the stipules none or a few longer hairs. Leaves oblong to lanceolate, usually broadest in the middle, 7-28(-36) cm long, 3.5-10(-12) cm broad, at the base obtuse to emarginate; margin entire; secondary veins sometimes slightly impressed above, smaller veins rather prominent beneath, 14-28(-36) pairs of secondary veins; petioles 5-14(-2o) mm long; stipules 1.5-3.5 mm long, with very short and distinctly longer hairs. Inflorescences subglobose to hemispherical, ca 7 mm in diameter; peduncle 10-14 mm long; receptacle foveate; staminate flowers many; perianth 0. 1-0.3 mm high (sometimes lacking?); stamen 1, filaments 0.5-0.7 mm long, anthers ca 0.3 mm long and ca 0.2 mm broad.

Discussion
This subspecies appears to be closely related to subsp magdalenense. It has longer peduncles and narrower leaves; the leaf base is not cordate and the small veins are rather prominent on the lower leaf surface.
