Description
Species Description - Stoloniferous perennial, essentially glabrous; flowering stems assurgent, 1–3 dm; lvs all long-petioled and arising from the ground level (either from the central crown or from stolons) except for a short-petioled, opposite pair subtending the fl-head; lfls broadly obovate, 2–3 cm long and wide, commonly shallowly retuse; stipules green, leafy, lanceolate to ovate, 1–2 cm; peduncles 3–8 cm; fls 9–12 mm; cal-tube 1.5–2.5 mm, the lobes subequal, 3–4.5 mm; cor white, often with pink-purple veins, the obovate standard conspicuously exceeding the obtuse wings; seeds 1.7–2 mm; 2n=16, 32. Moist, well drained disturbed woods associated with streams; rare; W.Va. and O. to e. Kans. and n. Ark. Apr.–July.
