Description
Species Description - Stems clustered on a stout taproot, ± ascending, 1–5 dm, leafy, softly spreading-villous; lower stipules membranous, broadly ovate, 7–20 mm; lfls 23–33, narrowly oblong to elliptic, 1–2 cm, glabrous above, long-hairy beneath; cal-tube 6–11 mm, saccate-gibbous at base, villous; cor ochroleucous, 1.5–2 cm; fr ascending, bilocular, indehiscent, 2.5–4 cm × 7–13 mm, curved, acuminate, thick-walled, thinly long-hairy, wrinkled when dry, pithy within. Cedar glades of Tenn. and n. Ala.; upper Illinois and Rocky rivers in n.c. Ill. Apr.–June. (Geoprumnon t.)
