Description
Description - Plant caulescent, often decumbent or forming cushions; stem simple or few-branched, 3-15 dm long, ca 7 mm in diameter, the apical 3 dm densely covered with leaves, elsewhere denuded. Leaves (young) sparsely arachnoid with septate hairs; sheaths erect, broadly ovate, 1 cm long, white when dry; blades recurved, narrowly triangular, attenuate, 6 cm long, 9 mm wide, rigid, pungent, green throughout, subdensely serrate with dark slender antrorse spines 1.5 mm long. Inflorescences sessile, soon becoming pseudo-axillary by the growth of sympodial branches, densely globose, few-flowered. Floral bracts subfoliaceous, exceeding the flowers, flowers subsessile. Sepals cochlear-imbricate, acute, 9 mm long, the posterior ones narrowly alate-carinate; petals yellow; ovary more than 1/3 inferior. Seeds naked.
