    Species Description - Lvs oblanceolate or spatulate, 2–7 cm, denticulate or entire, long-tapering to the base, glabrous but the lower side often densely farinose with a white or yellow powder that may also appear on the cal; scapes to 2.5 dm; bracts subulate or narrowly lanceolate, 3–6 mm, slightly thickened but not gibbous or saccate at base; fls 1–10; cal 3–6 mm, lobed to about the middle; cor-tube yellow, the limb anthocyanic but generally pale, seldom white, 1–2 cm wide; 2n=18. Rocks, cliffs, and gravelly shores; Lab. to Me. and n. N.Y., w. to n. Ill., Mich., Wis., and Alas. May, June. (P. intercedens)
