Description
Species Description - Shrub 1–2 m, with densely hairy twigs; petioles 2–4 mm; lvs thin, elliptic to oblong-obovate, 1.5–4 cm, with a yellowish callous point, pilose above, finely hairy beneath and with a few narrow lacerate or cleft scales on the midvein; fls 2–several, on stipitate-glandular pedicels 1–3 cm; sep glandular-ciliate; cor greenish-red to ochroleucous, 8–10 mm, its erect lobes 1–2 mm; fr minutely glandular, 6 mm. Mt. woods; Pa. to Ga. May, June.
