  • Description

    Description - Plant stemless, flowering over 8 dm high. Leaves to 6 dm long, entire, obscurely punctulate-lepidote; sheaths elliptic, 7-8 cm long, membranous-margined, dark castaneous and lustrous at base; blades strict, narrowly triangular, ca 2 cm wide, the apical part ca 5 cm long, involute, thickened, smooth, dark castaneous beneath, the remainder of the blade revolute, green, rugose when dry. Scape straight, 5 mm in diameter, glabrous; scape-bracts long-attenuate from a broadly ovate base, their blades with apices like the leaves, much shorter than the internodes. Inflorescence laxly tripinnate, ca 5 dm long, glabrous; primary bracts like the scape-bracts, much shorter than the sterile bases of the branches; branches strict, slender. Floral bracts ovate-lanceolate, acute, equaling the ovary or slightly shorter; flowers slightly divergent; pedicels short but slender. Sepals lanceolate, acute, 4.5 mm long; petals narrowly pandurate, cucullate, about equaling the sepals, white; stamens included, filaments of the second series slightly connate with the petals; ovary obovoid, trigonous, 4 mm long, wholly inferior; styles united.
