Description
Species Description - Robust perennial from a stout rhizome, to 1 m or more; stems often 1 cm thick; lvs lanceolate, 2–3.5(–4.5) cm wide; ocreae fringed with bristles; racemes not much interrupted, the ocreolae commonly overlapping, usually not fringed; pedicels at maturity exserted 2–4 mm; perianth white, glandular-punctate, 3–3.5 mm; achenes black, shining, trigonous, 2.7–3.5 mm. Wet soil and shallow water on the coastal plain or near the coast; N.S. to Fla. and tropical Amer.
