Description
Description - Plant stemless, flowering 4-5 dm high, slender. Leaves heteromorphic, the outer reduced to sheaths terminating in setiform entire or sparsely serrate spines, others intermediate, the inner functional, fasciculate, deciduous along a transverse line, spinose-serrate below the line; blades linear, attenuate, entire, 4 dm long, 13 mm wide, pale arachnoid beneath, soon becoming glabrous, submembranaceous when dry. Scape distinct, rather stout; scape-bracts strict, exceeding the internodes, acuminate, the lower foliaceous. Inflorescence racemose, 9 cm long, 25 mm in diameter, subdense, rather few-flowered; axis straight, arachnoid. Floral bracts lanceolate, acute, exceeding the pedicels, arachnoid; pedicels 5 mm long, languinose. Sepals triangular, acute, 20 mm long, ecarinate; petals tubular-erect at anthesis, 50 mm long, naked, yellow; stamens included; ovary 3/4 superior; seeds bicaudate.
