Description
Species Description - Erect, glaucous biennial 3–8(–10) dm, much-branched at least above; lower lvs petioled, the upper subsessile; fls in small panicles at the ends of the branches; bracts minute, lanceolate, cor (10–)12–17 mm, incl. the 2.5–5 mm spur; sep broadly ovate, 2–4 mm; fr ± erect, 2.5–4(–5) cm; seeds ca 1 mm wide, with an obtuse margin; 2n=16. Dry or rocky woods; Nf. to Alas., s. to N.Y., Pa., n. Ind., Minn., Mont., and B.C., and along the mts. to Ga. May–Sept.
