    Species Description - Stem slender, ca 1(–1.5) m; lfls firm and conspicuously reticulate-veiny beneath, narrowly revolute, ovate to oblong or obovate, entire or some of them with 2 or 3 lobes, glabrous, 5–15 mm; panicle large, very loosely branched; sep 1–2 mm; filaments slightly dilated, narrower than the anther; anthers 0.7–1.2 mm; stigma 0.6–1.7 mm; achene 3 mm, with low, inconspicuous ribs. Rich woods and meadows; s. Va. to S.C., w. to Ala. and Miss. June.
