Species Description - Glabrous or very sparsely hairy, 2–4 dm, usually much branched; basal lvs broadly round-ovate to reniform, 2–3 cm, wider than long, crenate, rarely 3-lobed, cordate or subcordate at base; cauline lvs divided to the base into 3–5 linear or oblanceolate segments; pet spatulate- elliptic, 6–8 mm, twice as long as the sep; achenes in a globose head, dull brown, obovate to subrotund, turgid, 1.3–1.7 mm, the straight, slender beak 0.3–0.5 mm. Rocky, open woods; s. Ill. and s. Mo. to Ala. and Ark. Apr.
