    Species Description - Plants medium-sized but slender, stipitate-frondose, in mostly dull, pale green to golden, tangled colonies; primary stems to ca. 8 cm long but often only 2-3 cm long, secondary stems 1-5 cm tall, irregularly 2-3-pinnate, complanate-foliate, often becoming flagellate. Primary creeping stem leaves triangular-lanceolate, ± gradually broadly acuminate, 1.1-1.5 x ca. 0.5 mm. Stipe leaves erect-spreading from an appressed base, not complanate, broadly oblong-triangular, ± abruptly and broadly acuminate, 1.2-1.5 x ca. 0.5 mm. Secondary stem leaves complanate, spreading to wide-spreading, oblong-ovate, ± abruptly short-acute to short-acuminate, short-decurrent, 1.5-2.1 x 0.5-0.8 mm. Branch leaves spreading to wide-spreading, complanate, broadly oblong-ovate, ± abruptly short-acuminate, to ca. 1 mm long on 1° branches, to ca. 0.6 mm long on 2° branches, 0.4-0.7 mm wide; margins serrate to serrulate; costa single, to ca. 3/4 the leaf length, sometimes projecting as a small spine; cells rounded-rhomboidal to hexagonal, 7-15 x 7-10 µm, bulging but otherwise smooth, thick-walled, not or scarcely porose; alar cells not differentiated. Asexual propagula not seen. Dioicous. Setae 3.6-5.5 mm long, straight; capsules exserted, ovoid to oblong-ovoid, 1.8-2.4 mm long.
