    Genus Description - Plants small, usually green, in lax to dense turfs. Leaves ± ovate, asymmetric, acute to short-acuminate; margins plane or recurved, if plane then limbate and more so on antical than postical margin, serrulate; costa subpercurrent to short-excurrent; cells rounded-hexagonal, smooth or papillose; basal cells not differentiated. Propagula uniseriate, seemingly apically indeterminate, ochreate (i.e., each cell with a basal collar from the cell below). Setae elongate; capsules erect; peristome none?
