According to Stafleu’s treatise, Taxonomic Literature, pp. 226 and 398. 1967, volume 3 of Roemer & Schultes, Systema Vegetabilium, was published in July of 1818, whereas p. 354, pl. 281 of Humboldt, Bonpland & Kunth, Nova Genera et Species Plantarum, appeared in print on 21 Nov 1819.
The type locality of Caripe, Venezuela, for Houstonia fruticosa, with the Humboldt collection cited by Roemer & Schultes, is also the same locality cited by Humboldt, Bonpland & Kunth a year later under their own binomial of Declieuxia chiococcoides, both names referring to the same collection.
