Description - Shrub or tree 3-8 m tall, the branchlets minutely strigulose densely or puberulous, sometimes glabrescent; stipules usually persistent, 1.5-8 mm long, 0.3-1 mm wide, linear to linear-lanceolate, acuminate, strigulose externally, glabrous within; petioles 1-9.5 cm long, puberulous to minutely strigulose, often glabrescent, narrowly alate to marginate to canaliculate; rachis 2.5-20 cm long, narrowly alate to marginate to canaliculate, stipellate at each pair of leaflets, puberulous to minutely strigulose or glabrous, the stipels 1-3.5 mm long; leaflets 1-4-jugate, glabrous to sparingly strigulose or minutely puberulous on the costa, the petiolules 0.5-4 mm long, puberulous to strigulose, sometimes glabrescent, the blades of the lowermost pair oval to elliptic to semicircular, smaller, 3-13 cm long, 2-6.5 cm wide, those of the other pairs 5-17.5 cm long, 2-8 cm wide, oval to ovate to elliptic to oblong-elliptic, the base of all the leaflets narrowed and usually obtuse finally but sometimes acute, or rounded-obtuse and slightly cordulate, the apex bluntly acute and often retuse or acuminate rarely, the venation obscure to prominulous on the upper surface, prominulous beneath, the costa more or less impressed on the upper surface, salient beneath, the primary veins plane; inflorescences ramuligerous or axillary, racemose, sometimes fasciculate, 4-20 cm long, the axis sparingly to sparsely strigulose or puberulous, or in part glabrous, the bracts persistent, 0.6-2 mm long, 0.3-1 mm wide, triangular to narrowly lanceolate, puberulous to minutely strigulose externally, the bracteoles lacking; pedicels 2-20 mm long, puberulous to sparsely strigulose or glabrous; buds oval to subglobose, 3.5-6 mm long, 3-5 mm diameter, glabrous; calyx segments 3-4, glabrous, persistent; petal lacking; larger stamens 2-4, glabrous, the filaments 3-8 mm long, the anthers oblong to oval, 1-2 mm long, 0.5-1 mm wide, the smaller stamens glabrous, the filaments 3-8 mm long, the anthers oblate to suborbicular, 0.6-0.9 mm long, 0.8-1 mm wide; gynoecium sparingly strigulose or glabrous, the stigma punctiform, the style 0.3-1.5 mm long, the ovary 2-4 mm long, 1-2 mm wide, broadly elliptic, the gynophore 1.5-4.5 mm long; fruits ovoid to globose, 18-25 mm long, 15-18 mm wide, glabrous, verruculose, the stipe 2-8 mm long; seeds 1 per fruit, 17-23 mm long, 12-13 mm wide, shining black, smooth, the aril white, covering one end of the seed.
